Great Audio and Video Podcasts"
Workshop
Description: In this three-part live
online workshop -- taking place over a two
week period -- participants learn and practice the
practical skills and techniques they need to produce
high-quality, highly engaging audio and video podcasts.
The workshop offers concrete approaches
for bringing each of the elements of a great podcast
together. Participants finish with their first podcast
recorded, edited and posted on their own podcasting
site. In
addition to basic podcasting skills POD
203 will explore:
- Establishing
a concept and brand for your podcast series
- Developing
a sustainable format
- Including
appropriate calls to action
- Choosing
and developing a persona and establishing the podcast's
personality
- Using
podcasts to foster
a growing sense of community
- Interacting
with listeners and including audience feedback
- Including
remote guests
- Using
real-world,
free and low-cost tools to produce your audio and video
podcasts
- Setting
up and hosting a home page and presence for your podcasts
Intended
Audience:
The
POD 203 online workshop is for anyone interested in
creating their first podcast, or taking their initial
forays into podcasting to the next level. Participants
from all backgrounds are encouraged to participate,
including: education, corporate organizations, community
facilitators, museums, healthcare, associations, libraries,
publishing and government agencies. The diversity of
each set of workshop participants offers great perspective
to all involved.
Duration:
This
workshop takes place over a 2-week period, and includes
3 live instructional webcasts of 2 hours each.
Facilitator:
This workshop will be led by industry pioneer Jonathan
Finkelstein, founder of the CSTP program,
executive producer of LearningTimes,
and author of Learning
in Real Time (Wiley / Jossey-Bass).
Jonathan is host of the Real
Time Minute, a regular online podcast program about
synchronous collaboration and learning. He is also
executive producer of numerous other podcasts, including
the highly-acclaimed Green
Room and several podcasts for groups like the New
York City Department of Education, the New York Transit
Museum and other educational and cultural institutions.
He coaches and consults with a variety of groups on
bringing voice online and creating a sense of community
that transcends place or distance. The son of two New
York City public school teachers, Jonathan graduated
with honors from Harvard University. |
