Over the course of
the program you will design, and begin to implement a
specialized “Community
Development Master Plan.” Students
begin to build a number of important projects including:
Market
/ Audience Research: students learn to administer
surveys,
polls or community-wide needs assessments; create
live online focus groups; understand the community
membership database; and solicit feedback from existing
and former members.
Outreach
Plan: based on research results, students
craft a membership development plan that incorporates low-cost
public relations, advertising, and search engine optimizations
strategies.
Event
Planning: students plan a year-long calendar
of synchronous and asynchronous activities to foster interactivity
and collaboration among existing community members, as
well as draw new audiences to the community.
LTCP
401 participants
also learn how on-going evaluation, training, content
development and member feedback can be
incorporated to ensure a long growth cycle within any online
community.
This
program takes place over 6 weeks and includes 3 live
webcasts
of 75 minutes each, numerous group discussions
and collaborative exercises. Final “Master Plans” will
be presented in a private online event, with live review
and critique provided by a panel of experts. Students may
choose to invite up to 12 colleagues and co-workers to
participate in this interactive webcast.
