Starting
an Online Community
Workshop
Description: A very practical, hands-on
program focused on the initial set-up,
marketing and ongoing operations and facilitation of
an online community. This workshop, which is based
within an online community itself, takes place over
4 weeks
and covers
the essentials of developing community online for
collaboration, learning, group projects,
public
outreach, professional
development, online conferences, membership
groups among other purposes.

Students
have access to and work within a live, working online
community. After each interactive webcast, students
will work on a series of practical exercises. Participants
are required to complete each task,
as well as provide
a “peer review” of other students' work.
