Drafting W3C Compliant e-Resources
Susan Brunner
Librarian
Regency Inst. of TAFE - Elizabeth Campus
Australia

In this session you will: learn how to apply international W3C-compliance guidelines to the e-resources you write or customise; examine fully accessible Websites; and share ideas on working with subject specialists & online developers.

Librarians work more & more with lecturers to develop & present e-resources. Those resources should be accessible by anyone - even if they're using assistive technology for the vision or the hearing impaired. In this presentation, we'll discuss the "Checklist for Content Writers - Making Draft Webpages W3C-Compliant". This checklist is a layperson's interpretation of the international W3C-compliance guidelines for Webpage accessibility. We'll also discuss strategies for working effectively with online developers & with lecturers. Examples of accessible Websites will be visited. You CAN write for the Web!
