Our Statement on Privacy and Security of Information

LearningTimes, LLC, the producer and operator of the LearningTimes Network, is absolutely committed to protecting the privacy of our users' personal information. The following statement explains our information gathering and dissemination practices.

Information Collected

When you register with the LearningTimes Network, our registration form requires you to disclose your name and email address ("registration data"). You also have the option to disclose a personal profile and your website URL. These disclosures are optional and are not required to register. As part of your registration, you will be asked to select a user name and password for use within the LearningTimes Network.

Use of Information

The registration data — including name, defined alias, and email address — is used by our service to identify you and your contributions to the system. A valid email address is required by our service to provide you with updated information from LearningTimes, including community and conference activity updates, requested search results, invitations, and service information. You may limit disclosure of your registration data throughout the system by selecting options within your profile, accessible in the "My Communities" section under "Edit Profile".

Demographic and profile data is used to personalize our service to your interests and to deliver personalized information to you.

Demographic and profile data may be shared with partners such as members of our editorial or advisory boards and sponsors on an aggregate basis. LearningTimes does not disclose personally identifiable information about our members.

Use of Cookies

A cookie is a file that is written to your hard drive when you access certain web pages. We use cookies to personalize our service to your interests and to ensure data security. Upon logging in or entering a community or conference, cookies are set to authorize you during your session. All cookies will expire when you close your browser. Data stored in cookies is encrypted to prevent tampering. Cookies identify you as you navigate the system to ensure all community and conference rights and permissions are respected (i.e. you can only enter communities or conferences that you have been permitted to join).

Log Files

Logs of website traffic are collected and include information such as IP addresses, browser types and cookie information. This information is collected to analyze trends, administer the site and to calculate overall activity. Personally identifiable traffic patterns are not disclosed to community administrators or third parties.

WebTrends Live is used to analyze traffic to this web site. WebTrends Live does not create individual profiles for visitors. Unlike some tracking services WebTrends Live does not have a database of individual profiles for each visitor. WebTrends Live only collects aggregate data. For more information about WebTrends Live privacy policy, please click here.

Public Communities and Conference Sites

Some communities and conference sites are open for the public to join without restrictions. Please remember that any information disclosed in these communities becomes public information and you should exercise caution in disclosing your personal information when joining such communities.

Security

This website has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. The information collected by our service is stored in a secure operating environment that cannot be accessed by the public.

Other Websites' Links

This website contains links to other websites. LearningTimes is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of these linked sites, because their privacy practices may differ from ours.

Opt-Out, Delete/Deactivate

Members of the LearningTimes Network can deactivate their user accounts at any time. To deactivate your account, see the bottom of the "Edit My Profile" page within the "My Communities" section.

Community updates (an email sent from each community or conference site joined) may be deactivated by selecting "Preferences" within each community and setting "Activity Updates" to "Never Send".

Users can set the amount of personal information they reveal on a per community or conference site basis. These settings can be changed by selecting "Preferences" within each community or conference site and selecting the desired "Privacy Setting".

Occasional email reminders or broadcasts about upcoming webcasts or activities of interest contains an "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email. Following this link instantly removed the user from the reminder or broadcast mailing list.

Members can "opt-out" of receiving general email communications by clicking on "My Communities" and then "Edit Profile". On the edit profile page, de-select "Receive important news about this service".

The "Who's On" tool can report members as being "online" upon entering a community. Users must explicitly activate this feature and can also de-activate it at any time.

In the unlikely event that unwanted messages are received through the sites' instant messenger, users can immediately block the member from sending additional messages by pressing the "Block" button while the offending message is on-screen. Users may also right-click on any user name listed in the sites' instant messenger and select "Block". Members cannot send messages to other members who have them blocked.

Correct/Update

Communities and conference sites allow users the option to change all information previously provided. To make changes to registration data, select "Edit My Profile" from within the "My Communities" section, then proceed to make the required changes.

Privacy Policy Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy for LearningTimes, we will post those changes prominently on our website so that users will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information and whether we will disclose it to anyone. If we ever change the way we collect or use personally identifiable information, we will e-mail our users noting the change and give our users the option to opt-out of such a change.
