Unfortunately, I missed your session, but I am very interested in this concept! Our library is quite large~ over 25,000 books so this would be a very big project for us. I understand how you added the color coding to your spine labels to help identify different genres. I’m wondering how teachers and students who use the online catalog find books if you don’t change the actual call number. Thanks for your help!
Interesting concept!
Thanks! We have found that our students love the new organization and our circulation numbers have risen.
How large is your fiction collection, and how long did it take you to reorganize it?
We both spent about 40 hours over the summer with an additional 40 hours of support staff time on the bulk of the project. Both of us worked before and after this summer work as time permitted. It’s difficult to do this when school is in session!
Our collections run around 400 fiction titles.
