What are the different access levels?
b there – Your Virtual Track Pass, the AASL 14th National Conference & Exhibition offered in a virtual setting, offers select online content for all levels of b there – Your Virtual Track Pass membership.
Spectator (free for the general public) Non-AASL members and non-conference registrants have access to:
- create a profile
- network with other b there participants
- social networking updates
- participate in conference polls
- be a part of the Unconference
Pit Stop (free for AASL members)
As an AASL member, you get free automatic access to b there, including all of the Spectator benefits, plus:
- select recorded sessions focused on key topics, such as collaboration, intellectual freedom, and the learning standards and guidelines.
- join the Born Digital One Book, One Conference discussion
- concurrent session presenter materials and handouts

Registered users of b there, will receive all of the privileges of the Pit Stop access, plus:

Where do I find my unique invitation code?
All AASL members receive exclusive Pit Stop level access as an AASL member-only benefit. AASL members would have received their unique invitation code in an email from AASL on October 27, 2009.
National conference or b there – Your Virtual Track Pass registrants, would have originally received their unique invitation code in the registration confirmation email from Experient, and again in an email from AASL on October 26, 2009.
Spectator level access requires the common invitation code, aasl2009.
Pit Stop and Track Pass users who have lost their unique invitation codes can contact AASL at aasl@ala.org. Responses to inquiries may be slow during national conference and on weekends.

Having a completed profile will enable you to better network with your colleagues during and after the AASL 14th National Conference & Exhibition. Did you forget to exchange information with a new connection at the conference? No problem. With a completed profile, you can reconnect with them via b there – Your Virtual Track Pass.
Are you unable to attend conference, but have registered for b there? Make those personal connections virtually by uploading a picture to your profile. As an active member on the blogs, discussion lists, and social networking feeds, be sure those you are sharing ideas and inspiration with can make those connections with you.
How do I edit my profile and upload a picture?
Once logged into the site, click the Profile link on the left side to edit your profile. From there, you can update your biographical information and upload a picture of yourself that will appear next to your name when posting comments in Discussion areas. (We recommend uploading an image that is about 100 or so pixels square.)
Please take a moment to introduce yourself to conference participants. You might like to tell us where you work, what city you are in, and about your role in the School Library Media field. Visit the Introductions discussion forum here. Once you have introduced yourself, start commenting on blogs and become an active participant in the other discussion forums.
Tagging is a way of organizing content or classifying information on the Internet using simple keywords. Once your post is tagged, other users can then search using these tags to find relevant online content. b there – Your Virtual Track Pass has Flickr and Twitter feeds that pick up the content you tag for AASL in your personal accounts and displays it on the virtual conference site.
- Place #aasl2009 anywhere in your tweet to appear in the b there Twitter stream.
- Blog your thoughts about the conference with the tag AASL2009.
- Photostream your conference memories into b there with the Flickr tag aasl2009.

What is an RSS feed? How do I activate and view an RSS feed?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and is used to describe the technology used in creating feeds. A feed is frequently updated content published by a website. Usually used for news and blog websites, a feed can also be used for distributing other types of digital content, including pictures, audio or video.
So you can stay current with all of the news and content updates on the b there – Your Virtual Track Pass Web site, Learning Times offers a RSS feed for users. To subscribe to the feed, click on the text RSS in the right side of your menu on the b there home page. b there – Your Virtual Tack Pass will automatically be added to your Internet Explorer web feed and automatically download the newest posts from the b there site to your computer for viewing. Once you have added b there to your RSS feeds, click on the feed icon in your Internet Explorer menu, or go directly to http://www.learningtimes.net/aasl/feed/ to view the b there RSS feed.
You can also save this feed to your favorites by clicking on add favorites icon while at the Learning Times feed. You can then view the feed by clicking on the Feeds tab in your Favorites Center.
Where can I access featured on-demand elements such as podcasts and vodcasts?
General Session: You will be able to access elements featuring our General Session speakers under the General Session menu tab, including interviews, discussion boards and on-demand access to danah boyd’s keynote address.
Concurrent Sessions: Select Concurrent Session podcasts will be available under the Podcasts menu tab. Concurrent Session podcasts will be uploaded as the conference progresses.
Member videos: Under the Programs drop-down menu, select Member Videos. In this area members at the conference and virtual attendants can upload video to share with colleagues.
Were you unable to attend or present at conference, but have a lesson plan, activity, or research you want to share? Have you discovered helpful new software or a Web site? Upload a video presentation or tutorial and spread the wealth!
NOTE: These areas will be developed and updated as the conference is underway. Some features will only be available to select levels of b there – Your Virtual Track Pass users.
When/How will I be able to access webinars?
Webinars will be available through the Webinars page at the time of their event for registered Track Pass members of b there. After the live event, webinars will continue to be available in this area on-demand.
Click on an event of interest on the Webinars page, and then at the time of the event click the green Enter Conference Session button below the description of the session you wish to attend. Be sure to have your speakers or headphones connected, and a microphone if you wish to be able to speak.
Discussion Board: Continue the discussion after the session by participating the discussion board specific to your Webinar. Click on the maroon Discuss Topic With Others button under the event description to enter the discussion.
RUN THE TECHNICAL CHECK: It is recommended that you run the Technical Check on your computer before the event time of your webinar, so you can be sure your system is compatible. The Technical Check will help confirm that your computer is ready to connect to the Adobe Connect Pro platform that will be used for the live IFC Online eConference sessions. It will also help you test and configure your audio (speakers/headphones). Click on the orange Tech Check button under your Webinar description, or visit the Technical Check page.

Where/How do I use the Session Planner?
The Session Planner will help you create a custom, printable itinerary for your conference experience. The planning tool allows you to browse and select your session preferences from a list of titles and times, then print your selection on one easy to read page, showing you where you need to be and when you need to be there.
NOTE: Because the Session Planner was created in the preliminary development stages of the national conference, AASL can only confirm accurate session titles and times hosted in the planning tool. All other relevant information, including session descriptions and downloadable materials, should be referenced on the Programs page of the b there – Your Virtual Track Pass Web site. Click here.
The Session Planner is a third party program, so you will need to create another user profile to use the tool. This profile is separate from this site and does not pertain to the content on this site. Click here.
The Unconference is an opportunity for conference attendees who are not scheduled to host a concurrent session to share research, best practices, lesson plans, and more with visitors in the Blogger’s Café in Charlotte. Presentation equipment and internet connection will be available.
Those unable to attend the Unconference in Charlotte will be able to download materials posted by presenters to the Unconference wiki space.
