- TIP #72:
Adjusting Frequency of Email Updates
|
|
Community
Email Updates are sent out automatically to you when new content
or events are posted in online communities to which you belong.
You can control how often you receive activity updates from the
online community. It can be set to update you of new activity
on a daily, weekly or monthly basis -- or never at all.
You are only
sent an update IF activity has taken place or new or upcoming
events have been posted. Therefore, setting your update to
daily does not necessarily mean you will receive an e-mail
every day.
|
When
you first joined a community, you selected the frequency of the updates.
To edit frequency now that you have an account:
- Follow the link
at the end of an email update, or visit the "Preferences" link
along the left-hand side navigation of the given community.
- Under "Activity
Updates", use the pull-down menu to select the desired email
frequency (daily, weekly, monthly or never). Then click "Apply
Changes" to save your preferences.
| That's it! Your
email updates will now arrive -- if there is new content -- at
the interval you selected. |

Creating
and Sustaining Learning Communities Online: Focus on Museum
Possibilities [Webcast] - This session
continued the dialogue begun at the annual American Association
of Museums (AAM) conference. During this online meeting,
a group of museum and learning professionals explored the
role that online communities can play in extending the mission
of museums in serving communities at large, and in fostering
professional development.
Is
it Age or IT? First steps Toward Understanding the Net Generation [Webcast] - This interactive webcast
featured Diana Oblinger, vice president at EDUCAUSE and editor

Net Generation". Groups of participants shared their
own thoughts from across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and
around the globe.
NCQ
Talk Episode 2: 'Standing in the Gap' [Podcast]
- This podcast explored how "nerds" or "techies" and "non-techie" educators
can better relate to one another and succeed in serving learner
needs. The show draws upon a well-known model from Geoffrey
Moore: "Crossing the Chasm and the Technology Adoption
Life Cycle".
NCQ
Talk Episode 10: 'Summer Sizzlers' [Podcast] - The NCQ Talk team
talks about what they do when on "virtual
vacation", and invites you to share your "summer" ideas,
too. What do you read for inspiration and ideas? Your top
safety tips for someone working online? How do your children
or students use computers and where do they go on the web?
Copyright
Basics: What Faculty Need to Know [Webcast] - Copyright laws
provide many opportunities for the legal
use of copyright-protected works and educators need to learn
about their rights in order to work within the law. The goal
of this live online session was to develop some basic foundations
for understanding educator responsibilities and rights.

None of us at LearningTimes could have envisioned when
we first opened LearningTimes.org as a gathering place on
the web that the community would grow so quickly and be home
to such a diverse and sharing group of people. Nor could
we have imagined that the LearningTimes Network would have
been so quick to spawn so many interconnected sites for collaboration,
networking and learning that are making such a meaningful
difference in the lives of so many. |
We want to thank you for your contributions
and your involvement. It is your willingness to share and collaborate
that keeps LTN a vibrant and open place for education-minded
people to meet, network and learn. We also want to recognize
the gracious support of all of our sponsors.
As always, please do write us with your ideas for enhancing
the professional development opportunities available to LTN members.
We look forward to seeing you online. Warm regards,
